SmartLipo Triplex vs Traditional Liposuction

We offer advanced technology with the SmartLipo Triplex laser for skin tightening while removing unwanted fat in the areas targeted for liposuction laser treatment. During the procedure, the SmartLipo laser is used to soften and melt fat before the fat deposits are removed using a precise technique. Using this sophisticated laser lipo treatment, Smartlipo works under the surface of the skin to improve skin tightening. SmartLipo is ideal for the abdomen, flanks, thighs, back, knees, arms, male breast tissue, and neck. Patients receive only a local anesthesia and sedation, which improves the safety profile of liposuction surgery considerably.

Laser treatment- Precision Tx™

Doctor Arnold Breitbart also offers Cellulaze™ laser treatment for cellulite and Precision Tx™ laser for face and neck skin tightening. Cellulaze™ is a minimally invasive laser treatment procedure that aims a specific wavelength of light under the skin to release the bands of tissue that cause cellulite dimples while trimming the stubborn fat pockets. Precision Tx™ is a minimally invasive procedure for skin tightening on the face and neck. It’s like a face lift or a neck lift that’s done using a simple laser treatment. When using this laser treatment on the face it is often combined with neck liposuction to achieve a more refined neck contour at the same time. Precision Tx™ is ideal for clients who are not quite ready for an invasive plastic surgery facelift. The initial recovery from Precision Tx™ is much easier than what’s required for a full facelift.

Tummy Tuck – Abdominoplasty

The Tummy Tuck is one of the most popular plastic surgeries for women, and is becoming increasingly popular for men as well. Also known as Abdominoplasty, the Tummy Tuck (and mini tummy tuck) is a body contouring procedure that removes saggy, excess skin from the abdomen and tightens underlying abdominal muscles to give the stomach a flatter, firmer appearance (see our photo gallery for examples). Although it’s not a method for weight loss, a tummy tuck can offer significant aesthetic improvements for patients who are frustrated by loose skin or a flabby belly. Through a tummy tuck, patients can see a marked improvement in skin tightening that simply isn’t possible with diet and exercising.

Many of our patients have abdominoplasty or a mini tummy tuck as part of a Mommy Makeover, combining breast rejuvenation with laser treatment body contouring to get fat removed from targeted areas of the body and achieve a pre-pregnancy appearance.

Mommy Makeover

As many women know, pregnancies can have a significant effect on the body, causing abdominal skin looseness, stretching of the abdominal muscles, droopiness and emptiness of the breasts, and stubborn pockets of fat on the hips and thighs. Dr. Breitbart performs Mommy Makeover surgery, which is designed to treat all of these conditions, restoring a more youthful, pre-pregnancy body through laser treatment and skin tightening. Mommy Makeover surgery can typically involve an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast augmentation and/or breast lift, and liposuction. These procedures can often be combined in a single plastic surgery operation, or they can be performed as separate procedures.

For most Mommy Makeover patients, a tummy tuck and breast augmentation and/or breast lift can be performed in a single surgery by our surgeon. Dr. Breitbart will decide which procedures can safely be done together at the same time.

Are you a candidate?

Good lipo candidates should be fit, healthy, non-smokers and preferably be close to their ideal weight before the procedure. Because liposuction is not for weight loss, patients should seek out a procedure to sculpt and contour the body, not to lose pounds. However, some areas of the body are particularly prone to storing fat and even dedicated diet and exercise programs may fail to get rid of these fat deposits. Patients who have been preparing to get rid of these deposits might be good candidates for Smart Lipo.

More than one area of the body can be targeted during a single Smart Lipo procedure. Laser lipolysis is appropriate for a variety of different areas of the body. If you’re interested in having more than one area treated, talk with your plastic surgeon about the Smartlipo laser treatment method. The Smartlipo laser is able to remove unwanted fat from the body while doing skin tightening at the same time.

Recovery Time

Again, depending on the amount of plastic surgery work you have done, the type of liposuction performed, and whether your surgeon uses local or general anesthesia, the length of the initial recovery will vary. Most procedures are performed with only local anesthesia which leads to about two days of mild to moderate pain after the local anesthesia wears off. The wearing off process can take from 12 to 24 hours. By the day after your procedure, you may be feeling tenderness or soreness in your muscles, similar to the pain you feel when you overdo it at the gym or when you have a mild sunburn. This recovery day will be the most painful, with pain diminishing gradually over the next 7 to 10 days. An over the counter pain reliever should be sufficient for helping you get past the initial stages of recovery after the local anesthesia wears off.

What Pain to Expect After Your Surgery / Recovery?

Pain varies from person to person, but a key factor to ensuring your pain levels stay low is to have the procedure performed by a skilled and reputable experienced surgeon (with both skill and experience). Another factor in keeping pain levels low is the size of the area you are having targeted for liposuction. The equation is simple: larger will be more painful, smaller areas will be less painful. Fortunately, all pain should dissipate after about one week, and you will most likely never need more than an over-the-counter pain reliever prescribed by your surgeon. Dr. Breitbart provides all the necessary medications to patients to help them through the initial recovery process.

Liposuction Results

SmartLipo results are visible immediately; and the patient’s body shape will continue to improve over a period of several months*. The SmartLipo laser promotes blood coagulation and collagen production which results in tissue tightening*. One of the greatest benefits of the SmartLipo laser is that it provides long lasting results*. Since adults do not produce new fat cells, if a patient gains weight, the existing fat cells that are left following liposuction surgery expand. As a result, the new fat deposits will be distributed in different parts of the body and not the area that was treated*.

Do you use General Anesthesia

We never use general anesthesia for liposuction procedures because we feel it’s unsafe. Local anesthesia is much safer. However, we do offer the option to do the procedure under “Twilight” which is a stronger form of sedation than the usual, lighter sedation we normally provide to patients. This “Twilight” type of sedation is extremely safe and adds virtually no additional risk to the surgical procedure the way general anesthesia does. Please let us know if this is something that you wish to discuss. Local Anesthesia means less risk.
